Yeah, it is indeed some kind of collector armor. It could replace collector armor or exist besides it.
It is more direct.
You do not collect 5 White Mantle Emblems per armor piece for a collector but take the armor part right from the guys that drop it.
The idea is that White Mantle Armor parts would be dropped by WM mobs.
Shining Blade stuff from SB mobs, ...
You could not craft it.
You could craft other armors.
This armor would still be rather common, if we assume there are many White Mantle mobs just for example.
Equivalents to prestige armor would require what I described in the first example and be a mix of collector armor and quest reward.
P.S.: The customization idea was if you want to wear the armor and get the benefits of wearing it, you have to customize it like any other armor. This would allow an armor preview by just clicking on it.
I am also sorry for being quite harsh, I was upset by the many things that to my surprise were interpreted in my rather basic suggestion.

I totally understand that, but in the grand scheme of things, the White Mantle (continuing the example) drop emblems all the time. It's very common. If they dropped armour it would have to be very rare. You could probably have collected emblems for 5 sets of armour before you had a single armour drop for you.
If it were any more constant than that it would just wreak havoc with the game economy, and then we'd have the problem where no one crafts anymore and just waits for drops.
The system is pretty perfect how it is. This would just cause unnecessary issues witha system that isn't even flawed.
While on the face of it it seems quite a simple idea, my opinion is that implementing it would cause far more problems than it should, and lets face it, adding more problems when there's still so many things that needs to be fixed is not going to be good from a company, or a community point of view.
Even simple suggestions have a lot of other things that need to be taken into account.

Ah... if you mean to have a really rare drop that drops only from, let's say bosses of a certain allegiance, I could agree with that....
Let's see the 'human' allegiances whose armos we could copy... (No matter how hard you try, you can't customize a dwarven or centaur armor to fit a human, it would be gruesome)
.Acalon bandits
.Orrian undead
.White Mantle
.Crimsom Skull
.Am Fah
.Jade Brotherhood
.Coursairs
.Kornan military
Here you are.
The rest of creatures have either shapes or sizes way too different to be able to customize their armors for humans, are allied or neutral or we already have their armors (Ancient for Awakened)
Margonites are really tall, and usually have the skin of heir former selves tanned and turned into parts of their armors.
I don't want to wear that! Disgusting!

Lol, now I'm trying to picture a big, buff warrior trying to squeeze into Ogden's outfit.

You never experienced an armor crafting system before at alland the MMO levelquest system dating back to Everquest and earlier was your first contact with the MMO genre.
I want to say, you really do not have a clue, you did not even understand my simple suggestion with the armor drops. Maybe you should read what people actually suggest instead of going to talk about your rather weird assumptions.

What are you on about?
When did I say that Diablo uses armor crafting! I simply mentioned MMOs and RPGs which I have played, of only GWs uses armor crafting and the rest use armor drops.
This is where my experience comes from, and from my experiene armor drops suck. Their confusing and make you spend more gold constantly changing your armor and trying to get bits to work together.
The things I listed as being frustrating when concerning armor drops, are from my experience of how armor drops in other games work. You are in no position and you have no right to question that, because its my opinion and my experience.
I said at one point that I like the idea and like I said in an earlier post it isnt a bad idea, but its just not needed or required.
GWs has a system which works and we cant have both.
As for the points I made earlier which I numbered... thats called using examples to make a point and I was using my experience of WoW, hellgate and Diablo etc etc, to base arguements about why armor drops would not be a good idea.
Yes maybe Anet would handle them differently, but if armor drops are nothing more then identical to crafted armor except for skin type... then why not just have the crafters make it?
If you want white mantle armor and drawf armor or char armor, then ask Anet to make those armor types available from crafters. Instead of relying on drops. This more about wanting variety in armor, and you dont need armor drops to achieve that.
Instead of turning an existing system on its head, expand the existing system and have them crafter more, varied armor!
